What are the key steps for airtightness testing of charging guns

With the rapid development of technology, the airtightness of the charging gun, as a key equipment for electric vehicle charging, directly affects the safety and efficiency of the charging process.

1、 Testing requirements

1. Pressure parameters: The test pressure set for detection is 20kPa. This pressure value is not arbitrarily determined, but is determined through extensive experimentation and consideration of practical application scenarios. It can effectively detect possible small leakage points without excessive pressure on the charging gun structure. For example, if the pressure is too high, it may cause damage to some of the more precise components inside the charging gun; If the pressure is too low, it is difficult to accurately detect potential leakage hazards.

2. Time setting

Inflate for 10 seconds: During these 10 seconds, gas is filled into the charging gun, gradually increasing the pressure inside the gun to the test pressure of 20kPa. Adequate and stable inflation time can ensure that all parts of the gun are evenly compressed, avoiding misjudgment of leakage caused by uneven local pressure due to rapid inflation.

3. Voltage stabilization time of 10 seconds: The voltage stabilization stage is crucial. During these 10 seconds, maintain a constant pressure to observe if there is any leakage from the charging gun under stable pressure. This process is like giving the charging gun an "adaptation period", allowing its internal pressure to be fully stable, and any small leaks will gradually manifest as a decrease in pressure during this stage.

4. Testing time of 5 seconds: After inflation and stabilization, enter a testing time of 5 seconds. During this brief but critical period, high-precision airtight detection instruments will closely monitor pressure changes, capturing subtle fluctuations in pressure values through advanced sensor technology to determine if leaks have occurred.

5. Bleeding time of 2 seconds: After the test is completed, the 2-second bleeding time can quickly restore the internal pressure of the charging gun to normal, so as to proceed with the next test or put it into use.

Leakage value determination: During the entire testing process, if the leakage value does not exceed 30Pa, the tested charging gun is considered a qualified product. The small leakage value standard of 30Pa reflects the extremely high requirement for the airtightness of the charging gun. Because even extremely subtle leaks can cause impurities such as water vapor and dust to enter the interior of the charging gun during long-term use, thereby affecting its electrical performance and service life, and even potentially causing safety accidents.

2、 The indirect testing method using customized fixtures and testing platforms is currently a more scientific and efficient way to test the airtightness of charging guns.
