At present, the mainstream method for air tightness testing and waterproof testing of automotive components is air tightness testing. Many parts in cars are easily corroded and short circuited when exposed to water, so using water inspection methods to test the sealing of car components is not very effective. Nowadays, most automotive parts are tested for air tightness and waterproofing using gas inspection methods, such as laser radar sealing tests, front and rear camera waterproofing tests, shark fin air tightness and waterproofing tests. For new energy electric vehicles, there are also air tightness and waterproofing tests for battery packs, ECU air tightness and waterproofing tests, charging gun air tightness and waterproofing tests, and other components. Using gas inspection methods will not cause secondary damage to the product, and the molecules of air are much smaller than water molecules, resulting in test results that are higher than water. In addition, gas inspection methods are much more efficient than water inspection methods for air tightness and waterproofing testing of automotive parts.
